Monolog(ue) – II

You’re sitting in front of a computer screen, thinking – wondering if this is what you really wanted : to be standing, at this very moment, in front of a computer screen. So, is it? Is it what you really wanted? OK. Probably you were actually in the middle of some work and suddenly bumped onto this article, by chance. Or maybe, you just wandered around and found it. Or maybe you’re just another big fan and avid reader of the blog (which is, well, kinda justifiable… lol). In any case, you are dedicating this very moment to read a few lines of a random article coming from an anonymous stranger posted to some random web page which is part of a larger network of such pages, all essentially comprised by little zeros-and-ones. Not sounding really fascinating, is it? But maybe it is – for you. (You know, I am just writing – YOU are the reader). So, i’m jumping to the obvious conclusion : in your life, this very moment, HAD to be dedicated to your reading my article – in other words, I assume there’s no better thing for you to do in a hot summer afternoon other than visiting my blog. Well, that sounds good to me. Coz’ if it’s not (the best thing you could be doing right now), you’re a fool. But let’s look at it from another point of view…
Yes, you’re sitting in front of a computer screen. That’s not as horrible as it may sound – could be worse. I’ll give you some time to think : What were you doing before? Let’s say, 1 hour ago? 2 hours ago? Even more? What are you planning to do next? In 1,2,3 hours? What was the super-best thing you chose to fill your time with? Was it really that “super”? OK. I know, it’s not all pleasure’n'fun – there are those “necessities”, nobody can get rid of. Maybe you were just having lunch, taking a nap or a shit – and still be pleasurable. That’s normal, you don’t have to worry – No animal can be held responsible for succumbing to its humble instincts, anyway. You said you were working? Really? What for? Yes, I know, you’ve been taught that same old equation since your birth : LABOUR = MONEY = SURVIVAL + ENTERTAINMENT + + +. There’s nothing radically wrong in that. Yes, “money makes the world go round” – maybe yes, maybe not. So, let me inquire then : you’ve done your homework like a good kid, got a pat on the back by your teacher for being such a great student and then what? What did you do with it? How did you enjoy the fruits of your work? Don’t tell me – I just hope you did. Coz’ if you didn’t, you should either stop what you’re doing right now, or stop working : in both cases, you’re still a fool.
So, you’re still sitting in front of a computer screen? So, you are not absolutely satisfied with what you’re currently doing? Even with your whole life? Can you not even keep track of the lost time? Hmmm… When was the last time you did something you REALLY enjoyed, something WITHOUT HAVING TO do it, or having to convince yourself you do enjoy it? You know I’m right, huh? They say “life is short”, ain’t they? Maybe yes, maybe not. But surely, it’s NOT something to be wasted with mediocre alternatives, for fuck’s sake!
